Abstract

An example is used to show how mass audience persuasion dialogue prominently uses the argumentation scheme for value-based practical reasoning. The example uses a rhetorical persuasion strategy of tilting the balance of public opinion towards acceptance of marijuana by emphasizing its health benefits to mothers. It is shown (1) that there are ten rules for building a successful mass persuasion strategy, and (2) that the current argumentation scheme for value-based practical reasoning needs to be reconfigured before it can properly be used to evaluate such arguments by taking critical questions and counter-arguments into account.
