The parting of the ways must constitute a central theme in the historiographic reflection on the philosophy of the 20th century since it has largely conditioned the treatment of characteristic themes and processes of the same. As a case study, the debate about psychologism (Psychologismusstreit) is analyzed from this perspective, showing how the parting of the ways has conditioned anachronistic visions of this process and at the same time leading to leaving aside fundamental moments of it.
